me in detail
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, yet all my higher education was on the East Coast. I have a B.A. in English and a M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University. I also have a Library Science masters degree from Rutgers University.
I spent the first 20+ years of my career as a lifestyle and entertainment journalist at such publications as People, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and Vanity Fair. I also was an editor at a beloved regional magazine for Latinos in L.A. called Tu Ciudad.
I now work in the Communications and Marketing department at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles and feel like I landed at my perfect place. I love being surrounded by amazingly creative students, getting to take art and design classes on the side, and working with an awesome team.
My work-life balance has afforded me the headspace to finally break out and start writing my own stuff instead of just editing and rewriting others.
When not working at Otis or doing writing sprints, I’m hanging in L.A. with my cute hubs, our sweet son, our adorable dog, and my crazy friends and familia. I’m an avid crafter, paper planner, stationery aficionado, reader, and traveler.
